Atrocious customer service. Went to return a glass milk bottle for the $3 credit and the store manager refused to accept it because the plastic lid was not on the bottle. The manager confirmed that nowhere in the store is it written that the plastic cap must be there to accept the return. Nowhere on the glass bottle does it say the plastic cap needs to be there. Nowhere on the milk company’s website does it say the plastic cap needs to be there. The plastic cap is not reusable as a seal is torn off of it to open the glass bottle. Only the glass is reusable. They are stealing $3 from their customers for every glass milk bottle purchased that they refuse to take back for the refund. When I suggested to the manager that the store policy should be stated clearly on the shelf where the milk is purchased she scoffed and rolled her eyes at me. No other store that takes glass milk bottle returns has ever required the plastic cap.

Absolute worst grocery store you will ever find: 2-3x the prices of regular grocery stores (3x Trader Joe’s, 2x Whole Foods or Brooklyn Fare) which a very very small range of options or quality of product. Not even high end, just a non sensical 12$ for your most basic domino white and yellow bag of sugar, which I just got at the deli across the street for 7$ — just an example but all things like that. Never seen anything worse in my many years in NYC I live upstairs from the place and I am patiently waiting for the place to be replaced with another grocery store. I go out of my way to get groceries everywhere but Gourmet Garage which is just rly frustrating. I never ever write reviews but I am honestly tired of this ridiculous store and pricing. Hoping this can change things perhaps. Something needs to be done: DO NOT GO

Sold us a variety of perishable expired goods and then wouldn’t let us get a refund. Very rude staff. It’s fine, commodity products can be purchased elsewhere at better prices

11.00 for orange juice? Chicken breasts 19.00? Absurdly expensive groceries for locals. This place has achieved D’Agastino’s level of ridiculous pricing. The meat coolers were broken when I was there. I told two employees that they should throw the meat out and they just shrugged.

- 4/10/2023, Tues: Sagami (Savoura) brand Organic Vine Tomtaoes - 2.99/lb: Today I found another organic tomato brand Sagami which is the same brand as Savoura (Sagami inc. owns Savoura) from Quebec, Canada. The Sagami here are vine tomatoes while Savoura brand mentioned before are beefsteak (both red tomatoes), that are among my favorite retail red tomatoes. The Sagami vine were a good deal at 2.99/lb, lower than I've seen at other stores such as whole foods. I believe the Savoura organic beefsteaks are still be 4.99/lb. Sagami and Savoura tomatoes also have compostable labels and are organic and pesticide free, grown in greenhouses. Soon in May local tomatoes will be coming in at the NYC Greenmarkets. 2/21/23, Wed: Gourmet Garage on Hudson St just south of Abingdoon Square, - Savoura Organic Beefsteak Tomatoes - 4.99/lb - Gourmet Garage now has the Savoura organic red beef steak slicing tomatoes, from Quebec Canada with compostable labels, that on Savoura's site are listed as pesticide free from greenhouses.
